Chase is a Consultant to the Employee Benefits/ERISA Legal Boutique.
Chase Tweel* assists the Employee Benefits/ERISA Team with his experience regarding single employer, multiemployer, and governmental retirement and health and welfare plans, with an emphasis on plan design and compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. Chase has extensive experience with plan governance and fiduciary matters, benefit issues in collective bargaining, plan mergers, TPA and record keeper conversions, plan investments, reporting and disclosure, QDROs, service provider contracts, and drafting plan documents, summary plan descriptions, amendments, and policies. Chase helps navigate issues related to nonqualified deferred compensation plans and Code Section 409A compliance. Chase has experience reviewing employment contracts, severance policies, and equity compensation arrangements for compliance with Code Sections 409A, 162(m), and 280G. Chase also helps group health plans comply with the ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other legal requirements.
While attending the University of North Carolina School of Law, Chase was a member of the Dean's List and served as an Articles Editor of the North Carolina Banking Institute and Journal.
