Baltimore 2019 "Lawyer of the Year" in Collaborative Law: Family in Best Lawyers
Sheila devotes a substantial part of her practice to the field of Family Law. Her practice includes litigation and negotiation of marital settlements agreements, addressing the equitable distribution of marital property, alimony, custody, child support and related proceedings, as well as drafting and negotiating pre and post marital agreements. She is a mediator and arbitrates controversies in the family law area. Sheila Sachs has served as chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association and is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Sheila has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Family Law and Family Alternative Dispute Resolution since 1995. She has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Baltimore's Best Lawyer in America in Family Law Mediation in 2016 and was recognized as one of Washington D.C. and Baltimore's "Best Lawyers in Collaborative Law: Family Law" for 2013. Sheila was also named by Best Lawyers in America as the Family Law Mediator of the Year for 2012. She has been named a Family Law Mediation "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers Maryland and one of Maryland's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record. The Daily Record named Sheila an "Influential Marylander" in 2008 and 2012.
Past Chair of the Appellate Court's Nominating Commission for the State of Maryland, Sheila is active in Bar Association activities and is a former President of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. In addition, she has served on various boards, including the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners, the Judicial Nominating Commission for Baltimore City, the Board of Trustees of Goucher College and the Board of Managers of Haverford College.
Sheila is a member of the Collaborative Law Association Professionals of Baltimore. She is also a member of ADR Maryland, a panel of highly-experienced and widely-respected neutral Maryland attorneys who are trained and skilled in alternative dispute resolution.
