Family Law

Rose medallion, an architectural detail in the historic Garrett BuildingThe practice of family law requires a comprehensive understanding of the law as well as objectivity and sensitivity. Gordon Feinblatt has one of the most respected family law practices in the State, distinguished by the support of leading attorneys in the Firm's other practice groups, including Tax, Real Estate, Corporate and Securities and Estates and Trusts.

Gordon Feinblatt's Family Law Practice Group works as a team toward the resolution of personal and financial issues associated with separation and divorce. We have extensive experience in financial analysis associated with family law matters.

The Family Law Practice Group represents individuals in litigating or negotiating settlements of disputed issues in the context of divorce and separation, including the equitable distribution of marital property, alimony, custody, child support and related proceedings.  The family practice area also includes adoption, guardianship and change of name.

Led by Sheila K. Sachs, who has focused in the practice of family law for over 30 years, clients are assisted in all phases of litigation, arbitration, mediation and settlement of conflicts arising when families divide.  Property division, spousal and child support and child custody and access issues pose often recurring, but sometimes novel problems.  The experience and strength of the Practice Group enables the firm to handle divorces where the parties have significant property interests, whether acquired by the marital unit or by the individuals in other contexts.  To avoid conflict, issues are sometimes best addressed in pre-marital or pre-separation agreements.
